sometimes, a whisper

Am pointing out the obvious, but the weekend is here. Tomorrow marks week #3 of our DF preparation and the start of the-general-mayhem-before-October. I wish my Saturday spans three Saturdays so I could spend the first two procrastinating and the last one panicking. Now everything is packed into one single Saturday, and frankly, it doesn’t make for much of a weekend at all anymore.

Number of books read since the start of September: none. However, I found this little app and am quite hooked (despite having only read three stories). And, this evening, I went to the bookstore and bought the book. I’m a perfect case study for consumer behaviour.

Also: saw a few screenings from the 5th Singapore Short Film Festival. Was more than a little disappointed with what I saw, and my knees, after three evenings’ worth of suffering, successfully petitioned for me to abandon the screening tonight. I was duly rewarded with takeaway sushi, oyster mee sua and milk tea. This kind of meta-conflict-resolution scenario pleases me quite a bit.

Am still on the hunt for the perfect iPhone case. I shortlisted one a fortnight ago, but that, besides having a rather hefty price tag, has lost its charm when I took a second look. Am now rather disappointed and desperate. All I want is a nice leather case (not a slip, though) that doesn’t add bulk and is logo-free (subtle branding is fine; subtle, subtle). Is that too much to ask? I’m not even asking it to sing, and I do know a few vending machines that would do that for just a few pennies.

And: it’s been pointed out to me several times, sometimes with a little shake of the head or a little snicker (you know who you are), that the budget for my upcoming trip is a little optimistic. Well, well! There is some truth to that observation, but I’m hoping that the choice to use the term “optimistic” instead of “naive” is an intentional one. The differentiation between the two is a little less distinct that I hope for, but a line is a line no matter how finely you cut it. I shall not return to Singapore before Christmas.

My original intention was a leather case that’s not a sleeve and doesn’t add bulk or have some nasty logo thereon. But I had failed in that endeavour. If you succeed, post an edit up here, for the good of all mankind.

Sh: uh huh. it is damn hard to find, no luck yet. dunno where all the good case/pouch designers have gone.

Avi: yay! sadly, i’ve not looked past the cover, yet. i blame it on the pseudo-long weekend.

medha: i also say! i shall be zen and mediate at train stations to spend the nights.
